Gillian was born in Corfe Castle, and grew up in Swanage. She was educated at Eastbrook School and Swanage Grammar School.
Gillian became a professional fundraiser getting sponsorships for the education of children in Third World countries.
The great adventure of her life came in 1974 when the whole family set sail for Tristan da Cunha where husband Nigel took up the post of Education Officer. On returning to Britain in 1978 they lived in Oxfordshire where Gillian pursued a career in senior management. In 1995 they returned to their native Dorset.
She is currently a published poet and writer inspired by life.
